ACT For Kids
In just one year there were over 46,000 confirmed cases of child abuse and neglect in Australia. That is one case every 12 minutes of a child suffering from physical, sexual or emotional abuse or neglect, often by people they know and should be able to trust.
Many of these kids get no professional help whatsoever, and end up with lifelong problems, but a small few find themselves at an ACT for Kids centre.
Each year ACT for Kids provides free professional therapy to thousands of abused and neglected children and support to families at risk.
ACT for Kids’ unique multi-disciplinary teams provide intensive therapy, sexual abuse counseling, safe houses in remote indigenous communities, youth mentoring, family coaches and a preschool designed for children with additional development needs to ensure they are set up for success at school.
Originally known as the Abused Child Trust, ACT for Kids has been helping Australian families keep their children safe for more than 22 years. They have offices in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, North Queensland, Far North Queensland and West Cape York.
