Reconciliation Action Plan
PeakCare has registered its Reconciliation Action Plan for 2010 – 2011. Peak organisations to reinforce its accountability for the implementation of the guiding principles for children’s wellbeing and protection within Indigenous communities.
Reconciliation involves building mutually respectful relationships between Indigenous and other Australians that allow us to work together to solve problems and generate success that is in everyone's best interests.
By registering a RAP, PeakCare aligns with Reconciliation Australia's ambition to eliminate the glaring gap in life expectancy between Indigenous and other Australian children. That the life of an Indigenous child is likely to end significantly earlier than a non-Indigenous child's is not acceptable in an affluent country like ours.
To undertake the reconciliation journey within the child protection sector, PeakCare approached Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Protection Peak (QATSICPP) to become its partner in this plan in March 2010...
PeakCare is embedding the RAP and its partnership work with QATSICPP in its Strategic Plan 2011 – 2012 to promote its accountability to the indigenous part of the child protection system in Queensland.
As part of our work under the RAP, PeakCare has undertaken consultations with Aboriginal and Torres Islander organisations with the What Works Matters project, which focuses on successful capacity building within Aboriginal and Torres Strait organisations and communities to promote good partnership practice to members of PeakCare Queensland.
