Current Practicum Students
PeakCare hosts up to three students each semester on practicum placements.

This semester we welcome two new practicum students, Georgia Cavaye and Kovila Sooben for this upcoming semester. We look forward to working with you and wish you good luck for the semester head!
Georgia Cavaye
My name is Georgia Cavaye and I am currently studying a Master of Social Work Studies at the University of Queensland. My previous degree was in Social Science (Counseling) at the Australian Catholic University and within this course I studied psychology, spirituality, philosophy, law and theories and skills relating to counseling. My first practical was working at Jabiru Youth and Children’s Services which is where I began to develop a passion for social work. I realized that an individual is impacted greatly by different systemic factors and that problems may not just be on a personal level. I am really excited to be undertaking a placement with PeakCare and am inspired by their commitment to social justice, advocacy and improving the quality of services provided within Child Protection.
Kovila Sooben
My name is Kovila Sooben, I am doing my first field placement as part of the MSW program. My background in sociology and welfare gave me a platform to understand the importance of children growing up in a healthy and supportive environment, hence a huge interest in child protection and the work being done at PeakCare. During my placement with Peakcare I will be working on a research project titled: The power of interconnectedness. Working towards social change to think about child and family wellbeing as everyone’s business.
I am particularly interested in exploring prevention and early intervention. I recognize how important collaborative work with communities and organizations can be to best ensure the welfare of children, families and communities.
